Southern neighbours: Porta Westfalica and Bad Oeynhausen

Porta Westfalica, literally “the gate to Westphalia”, connects the southern Weser highlands (Weserbergland) and the lowlands to the north. This area is an ideal starting point for hiking or cycling trips. Eleven long-distance trails begin, end, or lead through the slopes of the Weser and Wiehen mountains, some passing below Kaiser-Wilhelm-Memorial.

About a 20-minute drive from Minden's city center, the spa and bathing town of Bad Oeynhausen, which was founded more than 150 years ago, offers its guests relaxation in a nice atmosphere. The Kaiserpalais and Kurhaus are stone witnesses to the traditional history of the state spa.
