Water bridge
After a long period of planning in 1906 there was the start of a giant building project : The Rhine-Weser Canal. A 341 m long bridge, shaped similiar to a hod, leads the midland canal since 1914 over the Weser and composes one of the largest water bridges in the world.
Minden's passenger navigation offers „cruises“, in which you can view and learn about the core lock, pumping station, canal bridge and the southern descent. Also you should definetely not miss the transition of the core lock!
You can receive interesting material about the topic inland water navigation inside the information center at the core lock where you can find presentation boards, models and films to prvide you a vivid image.
