Minden during the Weser renaissance

DasThe art of building also took advantage of the rising economy in Minden during the 16th century.

The decorated timbered houses and the processing of sandstone on the facades of the citizens- and patrician houses formed their very own style for which the term „Weserrenaissance“ was implemented during the 20th century.

In Minden you will get in touch with many old and new examples of this style. So the houses which make up a delightful frame for the Minden Museum (Ritterstraße 23 – 33), give the impression of a road in the 17th century.

Inside the museum itself you will find versatile exhibits regarding town history and cultural history as well as many pieces of Weserrenaissance-facades of former middle-class houses.

We recommend a special sightseeing tour about the Weser-Renaissance to all those who would like to learn more about this topic.
