Famous “fathers”, literature, art and more…
Also Minden of course has its famous “fathers”. The Mindener poet and publisher Max Bruns left an extensive literary remains, which is evaluated in local archives.
The material covers to a large extent manuscripts and letters with partially prominent correspondence partners.
Already during his study time Franz Boas, the son of a Jewish Mindener family accomplished an expedition into the Antarctic. He became later the founder of the modern anthropology in America.
Since 1953 Minden is the domicile of the only international writer federation in Germany: The European author association Kogge inc. society, which reaches a large number of literature friends on its annual conventions with readings and panel discussions.
But also beyond that Minden is extremely literary. During the regular Poetry Slam in the cultural center 'BÜZ', professionals and hobby authors step into an open contest.
The Minden authors club and numerous other organizers organize regular readings.
Within the range of the art the association for current art and the culture association 'Wolkenstein' arrange regularly new exhibitions within the ranges painting, sculpture and installations. Beyond that the large number of Mindener artist presents themselves again and again with small and large events to the interested audience.
One type of art is inseparably connected with Minden: the MailArt and thereby the inseparably connected, already deceased, “father” of this type of art, Jo Klaffki.
Congresses attract artists from all around the world magically and the Mindener citizen is being kept up to date with exhibitions in the public area.
Art education even for the smallest ones is offered the child art culture workshop “Lille Kunterbunt”. Together with “mitmach museum minden (take part museum minden)” according to the slogan “touching permitted” interactive exhibitions and do-it -yourself actions for children, young people and the whole family are offered.
